Britain’s debt binge

Analysis of UK postcode lending data by The Sunday Times revealed that unsecured household debt surged in 2016 despite poor wage growth. Sunday Times Business asked me to create graphics to help tell their story.

As these datavisualizations show, although roughly evenly spread across the country, highest debt per head was mostly seen in southeast England, and grew fastest in and around London.

This use of bubble maps, enabling the comparison of debt levels and geographical location at the same time, was a first for the publication.
